Contrary to most interpretations which either try to let Abram "off the hook"
or vilify him for "selling his wife,"
I believe this passage is a true love story.
Abram, faced with certain death
and the kidnapping of his beautiful wife and soul mate Sarai into a pagan culture,
thinks quickly on his feet and trusts in God.
He tells Sarai to pretend that she is his sister
(using Achoti "my sister" as the code word for 'beloved' as it is in the Song of Songs)
whereby they are both saved. Words: Genesis 12:13 Music © 1994 by Linda Hirschhorn Sung by Linda Hirschhorn ISRC: US-CGH-05-75106
